An original Batya canvas painting.
This painting consists of multiple forms of media. Hand made clay hands and handmade bracelets. One hand represents the October 7th featuring kidnapped children's names on the bracelets, the second hand is older with the Holocaust remembrance pin and ribbon in hand, and an Auschwitz number tattooed on her arm the number belongs to Susan Rozsa (nee Benko). She an artist herself was registered in Auschwitz on 10 August 1944 after arriving on a transport from Hungary. On 31 August 1944 she was transferred to Buchenwald concentration camp.
Both hands can be seen forming traditional Jewish prayer hands, showcasing that throughout every horrible atrocity committed to the Jewish people, we still pray with hope for better days. Behind the hands is glass, when facing the painting you can see your own dark reflection with the hands placed in prayer form and through that reflection they look as if the were your own hands in prayer.
